“A sensitive master of his craft.”
— Augsburger Allgemeine

“One of the most promising newcomers in jazz full stop exclamation mark.”
— UK Vibe
Jan Prax is one of the most distinctive and dynamic saxophonists in Europe. Born into a family of German-Polish musicians, he began as a classical piano prodigy before discovering his true voice on the saxophone and in jazz, crafting a sound that bridges tradition with modern intensity, groove, and cross-genre exploration.
He has collaborated with artists such as David Sanborn, Gene Lake, and Riccardo del Fra, and performed alongside Max Mutzke, Xatar and the Heavytones. His albums Keepin’ A Style Alive, Ascending, and Head To The Sky showcase his forward-thinking approach to jazz.
On stage, Prax captivates with technical virtuosity, emotional depth, and a sound that hits straight to the core.
“You are so young and play so great. I hate you!”
— David Sanborn
